Who is the Fleet Manager?

A Vehicle Fleet Manager is a person who supervises commercial vehicles, drivers, and related Assets, including their actions, external and internal policy compliance, etc.

The Transportation Supervisor, Logistics Coordinator, Service Manager, Transportation Manager, Operations Manager, Logistics Planner, Logistics Manager, and Operations Supervisors are the names of the Vehicle Fleet Manager.

General Responsibilities :

  • The candidate must determine the fleet’s needs and maximize its efficiency and effectiveness through planned resource assignments under guidelines from the main office or region.
  • She/He provides and organizes basic training to workers and recruitment per security regulations and technical supervision.
  • Inspects, monitors and is accountable for vehicle fuel supplies, including contingency planning for urgent situations.
  • Independently checks that the fleet is used rationally and coordinates dispatch activities with the delegation.
  • Plans and organizes driver’s duties and works.
  • Records and inspects vehicle use and fuel consumption.
  • Maintains tracks of all vehicle movements using tracking world or similar methods.
  • Where necessary, check that field trip forms are complete and correspond to the assigned target and that log books are filled out.
  • Regularly provides the delegation with reports and statistics and takes alternative actions.
  • Establishes the spare parts inventory and retains control by supervision.
  • Benchmarks the ICRC’s dispatch services against potential alternatives for example vehicles, buses, and taxis.
  • Trains and coaches the drivers to avoid corruption smuggling and other illegal activity/work.
  • Reduces and analyses risks in dangerous locations.
  • Takes all important steps to implement the delegation’s security rules.
  • Ensures that administrative paperwork related to fleet evaluation, vehicles, and drivers is handled in a professional discipline and in line with guidelines from supervision which may include vehicle and driver data files, registration, and documentation related to import/export/transfer of vehicle.

People Management Responsibilities:

  • Geographical remit within the assigned country only.
  • In an assigned country oversees 1 to 50 items in one location or multiple locations.
  • Supervises mechanics and dispatchers and understands the performance administration and development activities for workers under their supervision.
  • Make sure that the last dates for the PMD cycle can be met.
  • Engages continuous feedback and support, particularly for the team under their guidelines but also for other staff workers.
  • Organizes meetings within their team to check optimal coordination of the work and proper flow of information.
  • Ensures continuity of the operations and supports the worker in their personal development through training.

General duties:

  • Understands the 7 fundamental principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.
  • Understand the ICRC code of conduct.
  • Recognizes the roles of the components of the ICRC.
  • Observe and understand staff regulations and security rules at all times.
  • Professionally provides the ICRC at all times.
  • Develops and maintains conductive and good working areas with colleagues and line managers.
  • Performs all duties on time.
  • Some other tasks may be required to be performed.

Requirements:

  • A Technical degree in automotive technology.
  • Good presentation skills are a must.
  • Should know the channel for coordination within the organization and good written and verbal communication skills are a must.
  • Three years of experience and two years of managerial role experience are preferable in this contractual job.
